Our Story
how it all began….
Back in April 1992, with a strong background in Public Affairs and an exciting few years spent working at various London based and international advertising agencies, Sue Sowerby saw a gap in the recruitment & communications market and decided to take the plunge by setting up her very own ad agency.
From day one, Sue made a firm commitment to ensure each and every one of her 29 clients felt valued and to make sure they received the service and respect they deserved.
It wasn’t the best timing to be honest – the UK was in the midst of a recession – but, with huge determination and a good number of loyal clients Sue had been working with by that time, The Sowerby Group was born. And seven months later, so was her baby boy Ben! This new business had to work – didn’t it?
Fortunately, the risk paid off. Over 30 years on, we still have some of those original clients on board – massive testimony to our strength in such a competitive industry. We’re pretty sure there can’t be many female-owned, independent agencies operating throughout the UK whose businesses have stood such a test of time – and we remain independent and proud.
Most of our business comes from recommendation and referral. We are regularly viewed as an extension of our clients’ own internal marketing, digital and HR teams. Today, and every day, we remain determined to impress our clients with great ideas, digital strategies and award-winning, creative design work, while remaining focused on providing exceptional customer service and a quality product – all to suitable timescales and budgets of course.
